Before going out and spending a few thousand dollars on a professional multi thousand dollar drone. You really need something cheap, but at the same time something decent.
Something that is good enough to get you off your L plates. A good enough drone to learn the basics, the bare essentials.
Also you really need to crash it a few times or many many times. If you haven’t crashed a few times have you really learned?
The Beginner Quadcopter
It took a couple of weeks to arrive but there was no rush. After ordering it a month long holiday to Thailand was taken. If you do not like waiting consider doing the same.
The package came all taped up. After opening up the packaging this is what the front of the box looks like and ohh its the “Upgraded Version” not sure what has been upgraded but better an upgrade than not. Here it is the best cheap quadcopter with camera to learn how to fly a drone. The Syma X5C.
And the back of the box looks like this. Notice it says HD Cam. By HD they mean 720p and it came with a 4GB micro SD card that filled up after 30 minutes or so of video. Had a 16GB card handy so gave it an additional upgrade and it can handle 16GB just fine.

Syma x5c Manual
The instruction manual was a 12 page all English booklet.
Pretty much covered everything you need to know to get started.
Syma X5C Quadcopter
The unit it self the Syma x5c Quadcopter. This thing is incredibly light weight! It weighs barely nothing. In fact when first picking up the box it felt like an empty box. No need to worry that is exactly as it should be. The only draw back here is it is so light even moderate wind is enough to make you loose control without too much effort.
Syma X5C Controller
Again very light weight. That antenna thing on tops. Its fake, the buttons on the bottom they are fake also. Everything you need is made available on the syma x5c controller. The 2 joysticks, upper left and right buttons, On and off switch, 2 x precision adjustment toggles, picture and video buttons. It runs off 4 x AAA batteries. About 50 flights in the controller batteries are still going. Batteries last a long time in the controller, as for the actual drone until well that is another story.
Drone Battery Charger & Micro USB to USB Converter
- A single USB battery charger is provided this is for charging the Drone battery (Not the controller).
- Also a micro SD card to USB so you can move the video and photos onto your computer.
- Small Screwdriver for installing the propeller guards and or dissembling the unit.
Propeller Guards and Spare Propellers
Make sure the first thing you do in install the propeller guards. Use the small screw driver mentioned above.
